Live In Studio: Michelle Malone Plays Foot-Stomping Tunes
Michelle Malone performs on “A Closer Look,” and talks with Rose Scott and Denis O'Hayer
Michelle Malone was born in Atlanta and grew up in a musical family. Those may be a couple of the reasons she has been a big part of the city’s music scene for more than two decades.
She has performed with musicians who are known far and wide – from Elton John, to members of Sugarland, to the Indigo Girls. Malone has also shared the stage with – and influenced – many performers on the local scene.
She has a new solo album, titled “Stronger Than You Think,” on her own record label. That has presented her with the challenge many independent musicians face these days: how to reach audiences both old and new.
Michelle Malone and her percussionist Trish Land stopped by the WABE studios to play some songs – two new tunes and an old favorite – for “A Closer Look.” She talked candidly with Denis O’Hayer and Rose Scott about her career, the music business and life itself.
