Local Gas Prices Could Drop Through November

Good news at the gas pump: prices have already dropped an average of 12 cents per gallon in the last week, and they should continue to fall until at least Thanksgiving weekend.

That’s according to American Automobile Association (AAA) spokesperson Jessica Brady who says it all comes down to supply and demand.

Brady says, right now, there are three main factors driving demand down starting with the fact that summer driving season is over. She says gas stations have now switched to the winter fuel blend, and that allows for cheaper gas. The third factor is the continuing high unemployment rate. Says Brady, “If you don’t have a job to drive to day after day, you’re probably not filling up your tank.”

Brady says there is no indication right now that Hurricane Sandy will have any effect on fuel prices in the South.
