At Atlanta Park, Local Muralist Pays Tribute To The Late Kobe Bryant
Era completed the mural in “just hours” the day after Kobe Bryant died.

There’s quite the tribute to Kobe Bryant in a downtown Atlanta park.
Bryant, along with eight others, including his 13-year-old daughter, died in a helicopter crash Jan. 26 outside Los Angeles.
On any given day, a handful of people can be spotted gazing at a massive mural in honor of the late philanthropist and NBA superstar.
Some leave flowers, creating a somber memorial at the foot of the artwork.
Era, a local artist, painted the piece that’s plastered on a wall, which sits under a bridge at the Fourth Ward Skate Park.
“It’s my personal tribute to the man, not so much the athlete, but the man he was on the day he died,” Era says.
On a rainy afternoon, Era met “Morning Edition” host Lisa Rayam, where they walked along the BeltLine and talked about his art.
