The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued a health advisory for pregnant women to get vaccinated.

The advisory comes as the agency reported that more than 125,000 confirmed COVID cases in pregnant women, more than 22,000 hospitalizations and 161 deaths through late September.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look” Stacey D. Stewart, the president and CEO of March of Dimes, talked with program host Rose Scott about the work her organization is doing to combat vaccination hesitancy amongst pregnant women and women who are lactating.

“Not only is the vaccine safe, but it’s actually very effective in terms of protecting the mom and the baby,” explained Stewart.

During the conversation, Stewart further discussed the importance of pregnant women getting the COVID-19 vaccine and the overall safeness of COVID vaccines.
