Shakespeare’s play Othello may be centuries old, but it’s every bit as relevant today, with themes of race, love, jealousy, and revenge.

Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square is presenting a bold take on the tragedy.

Actor Maurice Smith and Director Emil Thomas joined “City Lights” to discuss the play. Smith began by talking about was like to play such a complex character.

Othello is being onstage through Sept. 1 at  Marietta’s new Theatre in the Square.
