The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority’s fresh markets are back this season, even during the coronavirus pandemic.

The shops, managed by MARTA, Community Farmers Markets and Organix Matters, are open in five different neighborhoods: West End, Bankhead, College Park, Five Points and H.E. Holmes. They are planned to resume operations until the first week of December.

“These markets not only serve our riders, but because of their convenient locations, they are a fresh food resource for entire communities,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Jeffrey Parker in a news release.

Each market is open once a week from 3 to 7 p.m.: West End on Tuesdays, Bankhead and H.E. Holmes on Wednesdays, College Park on Thursdays, and Five Points on Fridays.

There is a three-step COVID-19 safety protocol within the markets that starts with social distancing, the patron asking staff for produce and then paying a second staff member. Surfaces in the markets are also being sanitized, and staff is wearing masks and gloves.

SNAP/EBT will be accepted and doubled at the markets. Cash, credit and debit cards are also permitted.
