Metro Atlanta School Districts Begin Summer Lunch Programs

School districts in Metro Atlanta, such as Fulton and Cobb County, are starting their summer food programs.

The coronavirus pandemic isn’t stopping Atlanta school districts from starting their summer lunch programs.

Whether by way of curbside pick up or the food coming to your neighborhood, free meals will be given to children 18 and under while school is out, along with adults who have disabilities — based on the school district’s policy.

Cobb County will be giving out breakfast and lunches Monday through Friday in eight locations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is planned to last through the end of June. Visit their website for more information.

Drive-thru locations in Cherokee County will let families pick up to-go breakfast and lunches while they sit in their cars from 10 a.m. to noon every Monday. There are eight schools that are offering this service from June 1 to July 20. Check out the county website for more details.

From May 26 to July 24, Clayton County is offering summer meals from 9 a.m. to noon in 13 sites. See where the food will be available on the county’s website.

Starting on June 3, Fulton County is beginning its Summer Food Stop service in 22 locations. Meals will be passed out on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, according to the county’s flyer.

In Henry County, students will receive 10 meals, five for breakfast and five for lunch, on Wednesdays through the county’s school lunch program. Six sites will be distributing the meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit the county’s website for more information.

Grab-and-go breakfast and lunches are distributed in Gwinnett County for free as a part of their curbside pick up summer meal program. Meals are available from Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in cities, such as Lawrenceville and Norcross. Visit the county’s website for more information.

Rockdale County’s Mobile Meals route will continue through July 24, according to the county’s school website. The meals are distributed Monday through Thursday, with the Friday meal being given on Thursday. There are nine routes and are subject to change. More information can be found on their website.
