Get To Know These Four Music Midtown Artists From Georgia

Peach State natives Khalid, Gucci Mane, Butch Walker and Mattiel will be performing at the Music Midtown Festival this year.

This year’s Music Midtown has four musicians from Georgia on its star-studded lineup.

Peach state natives Khalid, Gucci Mane, Butch Walker and Mattiel will be performing at the highly-anticipated, annual music festival, which already has more than 14,000 people interested in coming out.

Khalid

The 20-year-old singer, born in Fort Stewart, Georgia, started his music career on SoundCloud with tracks “Saved” and “Stuck On U” while he was in high school. Uploading his track “Location” to the music streaming platform led to him getting signed by RCA Records and the song going platinum. He was nominated for five Grammys for the 2018 award show, including Best Urban Contemporary Album for “American Teen” and Best New Artist.

Gucci Mane

Rapper Gucci Mane was born in Alabama, but was raised in East Atlanta after his family moved to the area when he was in fourth grade. He is credited with helping to craft the Atlanta rap sound through projects with local producers, such as Zaytoven, and Atlanta rappers like Young Scooter. Gucci has also won a Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Collaboration for “Black Beatles” with Rae Sremmurd. “I Get The Bag, “Both” and “Met Gala” are a few Gucci Mane’s current hits.

Butch Walker

Rock ‘n’ roll musician Butch Walker hails from Cartersville, Georgia. He is known for being a part of the Marvelous 3, rocking out as a solo artist and producing music for Pink, Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift and others. Some of his popular songs include Synthesizers and Bullet Belt. Walker expressed on his Tumblr how excited he is to return to Atlanta for Music Midtown. “Last time i played it, was when my old band The Marvelous 3 headlined the main stage in the 1900’s! It’s gonna be a riot and i can’t wait,” he said on his Tumblr page.

Mattiel

Atlanta songstress Mattiel Brown lives a double life. The Georgia State University graduate spends her days working as a designer at MailChimp and her free time creating music that has amassed thousands of listens on Spotify and SoundCloud. Her indie, rock sound has retro and contemporary influences. You can hear this in her frequently listened to songs on Spotify, “Count Your Blessings” and “Whites Of Their Eyes.
