New GALEO Report Reveals Record-Breaking Latino Voter Participation In 2020

GALEO (the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials), and the GALEO Latino Community Development Fund recently published a new report highlighting the 2020 growth and engagement of the Latino voters in Georgia.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Jerry Gonzalez, the executive director of GALEO, told show host Rose Scott that the Latino community was disproportionately affected by the pandemic from a healthcare and economic standpoint, and significant voter participation was seen at the polls as a result to former President Donald Trump’s response to the crisis.

“It was a record-breaking year for Latina voter participation nationwide and even in the state of Georgia,” explained Gonzalez.

During the conversation, Gonzalez further explained why he believes the core of the Latina electoral vote is in Gwinnett County, the findings of GALEO’s report and his predictions about Latina voter participation and representation in election cycles to come.
