‘Number 29’ Recalls Life as a Brave

Former Atlanta Braves pitching great John Smoltz recently had his jersey number retired, been inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame, and released an autobiography entitled, “Starting and Closing–Perseverance, Faith, and One More Year” (William Morrow, 2012).  In a 20+ year career, Smoltz has won the Cy Young Award, the Roberto Clemente Award, been voted onto the National League All-Star team eight times, and is the only pitcher in Major League history to achieve over 200 wins and more than 150 saves.  Here, he talks with WABE’s Steve Goss…
