One Year Later: local journalist and professor discuss deadly attack at the US Capitol

Thursday marks one year since the deadly attack at the United States Capitol.

Five people died when hundreds of then-President Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol due to the former president’s false allegations that the 2020 presidential election had been stolen.

It’s been reported that more than 700 people, including some Georgians, have been charged in connection to the insurrection.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Chris Joyner, an investigative reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Morehouse College Professor Illya Davis discussed the state of democracy in the U.S. one year after the attack.
