Part Of I-20 Westbound Shut Down After Roadway Buckles
A section of Interstate 20 Westbound near Flat Shoals Rd. is closed after a portion of the highway buckled.
DeKalb County police say an underground gas leak is causing the defect in the roadway, and advise motorists to seek alternate routes.
A motorcyclist was hurt when the road buckled, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The affected area is between Gresham Road and Candler Road. The highway is shut down at Flat Shoals Road.
To continue westbound on I-20, motorists must leave the highway at Flat Shoals, Exit 63, and travel on Cook Road to reenter the interstate, according to the DeKalb County police.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is assessing the situation.
