Dave Mistich

Originally from Washington, W.Va., Dave Mistich joined NPR part-time as an associate producer for the Newcast unit in September 2019 — after nearly a decade of filing stories for the network as a Member station reporter at West Virginia Public Broadcasting. In July 2021, he also joined the Newsdesk as a part-time reporter.

Since October 2012, Mistich has covered breaking news and state government affairs at WVPB, where he has won regional and national awards, including an Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting. He also had a previous life as a music journalist, documenting the rise of regional acts that came to international prominence, including Tyler Childers.

In his spare time, Mistich plays on the world’s best-worst softball team, Chico’s Bail Bonds, out of Morgantown, W.Va.
