Environment Reporter

I cover environment, climate and environmental justice for WABE. Environment is interwoven with Atlanta and Georgia as a whole at every fiber of our beings, from the spaces and places we call home to the stormwater that floods our neighborhoods to the electric vehicle companies putting Georgia at the forefront of a burgeoning, new kind of economy. Climate is a vast topic that’s tough to wrangle. My goal is to tell these stories digestibly and to center them on Georgians.

I grew up in Atlanta and couldn’t be happier to be back. Before joining WABE, I covered climate and environment statewide for Gannett/USA Today based at the Savannah Morning News. I got my start in journalism prior to that, covering the environment and a healthy dose of general assignment at The Mountain Times, a newspaper group in western North Carolina. I lived in Boone covering Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties, cutting my teeth on hyper-local news for a largely rural audience.

I’m a proud grad of Davidson College, where I studied Latin American studies and political science while interning at WDAV, the town’s classical music NPR member station and building up the student radio station, WALT 1610. I also spent most of those college years returning seasonally to the Chattahoochee Nature Center, where I worked as an environmental camp counselor, learning the ropes of Georgia ecology and deepening my love for the Hooch.
