WABE People

Patrick Saunders

Supervising Digital News Editor

I edit stories daily across several beats for WABE’s digital operation, but my most extensive experience is covering politics, public health and the LGBTQ community. Georgia has one of the largest, most diverse LGBTQ populations of any state, and too many of those stories go untold.

I began my journalism career in my native Atlanta by freelancing for Creative Loafing before becoming the founding senior writer for Fenuxe Magazine. I went on to serve as editor of the Georgia Voice and Project Q Atlanta, two of the most impactful LGBTQ publications in the South. I was brought on as a guest on WABE programs numerous times to discuss stories I’ve covered before joining the station full-time in 2022.
