A few hundred people gathered at the gravesites of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King Wednesday evening, as it was the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination.

At 7:01 — the time that King was assassinated in Memphis, Tenn. — a bell was rung 39 times for each year of his life.

Earlier, some had gathered at Atlanta’s historic Ebeneezer Baptist Church. Members of King’s family, including Bernice, Martin III and Dexter were present with their families at the event.
