Underground Atlanta has a new look.

The former retail district’s walkway has 16 new murals painted on its exhaust pipes as a part of The Pillar Project to showcase culture, diversity and togetherness within the area, according to 360 Media.

The project commissioned local Atlanta artists, Travis Love, Pash Lima, Delta Tango Mike and C. Flux Sing, to revitalize the Underground Atlanta, which is currently under development by WRS Inc.

“We wanted it to be very vibrant, and each artist had an opportunity to represent the artwork to match the vision, as well,” Toni Williams, founder of local artist collective Cultivating Cultures, said.

She co-curated the project with Jabari Graham, with Art Beats + Lyrics. Williams said one of the goals was to have locals resonate with the artwork.

“Underground is currently in the transition, construction wise. So it was a real initiative while it’s under this transition to bring people together to connect around the logo that Visual Soldiers has put together and the narrative, which is exuding diversity, togetherness and really bringing the local artist community to make it a vibrant scene.”
