For many in Atlanta, the annual Little Five Points Halloween festival is as much a part of October as the holiday itself. Children and adults get into character weeks early to line Moreland and Euclid avenues, waiting to grab the candy hurled from parade floats.
The Little Five Points neighborhood showed its sinister and silly sides at its 16th annual Halloween parade, as representatives from local bars, businesses and marching bands strutted down the closed-off streets. Traffic stopped for more than an hour as pirates, zombie librarians, a throng of Waldos and Carmen Sandiegos, and others marched to cheers from the crowds. Some floats were painstakingly built onto trailers and others were simple funeral hearses; one float appeared to be a plain white van, until a gigantic demon unfurled from the roof and nearly brushed power lines.
The festival also included food trucks, vendors and free live music on the streets. You can see some photos of the parade in the slideshow above.
