Because of the ongoing Interstate 85 bridge reconstruction, the Georgia Department of Transportation had closed Piedmont Road, just under the bridge, at 9 a.m. Tuesday.  Work crews had to set the final section of beams on the highway, GDOT spokeswoman Natalie Dale said.

The road was scheduled to be closed until 9 a.m. today. But, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, southbound lanes reopened just before 7:40 a.m., and northbound lanes reopened a little later.

A fire caused the interstate bridge to collapse on March 30. Reconstruction is expected to be completed by June 15, state officials said.
