City Lights: Maniya Barredo; ‘The Little Taco Truck’; And Selma Ridgway

Tuesday on “City Lights with Lois Reitzes”:

• 1:33: Maniya Barredo will be celebrating her 60th year as professional ballerina this weekend. At the Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, she will receive the “Pioneer of Atlanta Dance” award for her great achievements in dance and creating the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre in Marietta.
• 20:09: Atlanta author, Tanya Valentine wrote her second children’s book, “The Little Taco Truck.” The book combines both a great lesson on inclusivitiy and beautiful descriptions of delicious international foods.
• 31:49: For more than 30 years, Atlanta-based educator Selma Ridgway has specialized in working with students who learn differently. Her “Transition Program” she administered at Woodward Academy has been nationally recognized for its success. This year Ridway released a book called “Creative Learners,” a book of stories from students, teachers, and parents who talk about their learning differences. She will have a book signing this Thursday at the Schenck School Book Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library.
