Mrs. Abernathy is known for her work writing the business plan for the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott, among other important work in the civil rights movement. She was also the widow of the Reverend Dr. Ralph Abernathy, and worked with him and Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. to advocate for voting rights. Dr. Maurice Hobson, Associate Professor of African American Studies and Historian at Georgia State University discusses Mrs. Abernathy’s important contributions to the civil rights movement.

  • 25:59: Smart City Expo Atlanta is a three-day conference at the Georgia World Congress Center that aims to focus on issues surrounding technology, equity, and “smart urban solutions.” Yesterday, Rose Scott moderate a conversation called the “Power of Public and Private Partnerships” with William H. Rogers, Jr., Chairman & CEO at SunTrust Banks, Inc. and Derek Schiller, President and CEO of the Atlanta Braves. Today, we hear that conversation, which was taped in front of a live audience.
