Mrs. Abernathy is known for her work writing the business plan for the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott, among other important work in the civil rights movement. She was also the widow of the Reverend Dr. Ralph Abernathy, and worked with him and Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. to advocate for voting rights. Dr. Maurice Hobson, Associate Professor of African American Studies and Historian at Georgia State University discusses Mrs. Abernathy’s important contributions to the civil rights movement.
