Pop-up Magazine” is an evening of live story-telling accompanied by illustrations, photography, animation, and an original score performed live on stage. There are no recordings and no publications. Nothing is captured. It is simply a moment shared with the audience.

“City Lights” producer Summer Evans spoke with “Pop-up Magazine” co-host and producer, Anna Martin who explained the selection process for the show.

“We’re accepting pitches from journalists, writers, visual artists, photographers, radio-makers, and filmmakers. All of their work is super different, and we think that’s what makes a ‘Pop-Up’ show exciting,” Martin said. “We look for stories that can really come alive in a variety of different mediums. We think the best ‘Pop-Up’ stories work when the visuals and the audio and the presence of the story-telling on stage all work together.”

While the performers are showcasing their presentations, Magik*Magik Orchestra will be performing an original score in the background.

The Winter 2020 “Pop Up Magazine” show will be held at the Buckhead Theatre on Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
