Satisfeed Founder Discusses Combating Hunger In Gwinnett County

A father of five who leads a Gwinnett nonprofit working to combat food insecurity says he started the organization because the county lacked a staple feeding program.

“It didn’t make sense to me that in the breadbasket of the world, we had places where there was food insecurity and hunger,” said Tim Turner on Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

The Satisfeed founder talked with show host Rose Scott about the growing need to help food-insecure families during the pandemic, the origin story of his nonprofit and the organization’s food co-op and how weekend support programs are changing the lives of people in Gwinnett County.

“Since the beginning of COVID running through this past Saturday, we just passed the million-pound distributed mark of food to folks,” he said.
