Following the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks, several South Atlanta community leaders have come together to create a list of demands for city officials.
The list of 30 demands, released by NPU-V, calls on elected officials to “divest in policing” and for “reinvestment in communities.”
Specifically, NPU-V community members want to make up at least 25% of the hiring committee to select the city’s new police chief, among other requests.
On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Columbus Ward, NPU-V chair; DeMicha Luster, a local community leader, and Sherise Brown, a local leader, shared some of their concerns and their vision for the community moving forward with host Rose Scott.
