Former President Jimmy Carter has been released from the hospital two weeks after undergoing surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

Carter had surgery Nov. 12 and has been at Emory University Hospital since.

The Carter Center says the surgery and recovery have been successful.

The swelling around his brain was caused by multiple falls this year. Those mishaps have also resulted in a broken hip and a fractured pelvis.

The 95-year-old and his wife, Rosalynn, are expected to spend Thanksgiving at their home in Plains, Georgia, where he will continue to recover.

Carter has lived longer than any other U.S. president.
