Stonecrest To Get New Sports And Entertainment Complex

The Atlanta Sports Connection is building the 200-acre complex near Stonecrest Mall.

The complex will include facilities for 22 different sports, including a soccer stadium that will seat 15,000 people.

“We’ll have two professional teams that will be playing their home games there as well as making their corporate offices on-site,” said Atlanta Sports Connection CEO Patrick Henderson.

But Henderson won’t say which pro teams.

“We’re really looking to help change the landscape of not only what’s going on here in DeKalb County, but also being a huge tourism spot that we’re trying to promote … We’ll have an economic impact that ripples throughout the whole county and the state,” Henderson said.

Those plans and details are the subject of a news conference Wednesday.

Henderson said work on the complex should start within a few months and should take about two and a half years to complete.
