Coming To America From Cuba

At StoryCorps Atlanta, Rosa Acosta discusses with her granddaughter, Sofia Muñoz, her arrival in the United States and what it means to her to be an American citizen.

STORYCORPS ATLANTA

Rosa Acosta was in her early 20s when she left Cuba for the United States.

It was only a few years into the communist regime, and she only thought she would be gone for a few months.

Here she is at 80 years old talking to her granddaughter in the StoryCorps Atlanta booth about what that time was like and what it means for her to be an American citizen.

This story was recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, which hosts Atlanta’s StoryCorps Booth.
