StoryCorps Atlanta: New Year’s Advice From An Old Friend

StoryCorps Atlanta

Lillie Love talked with her former colleague Anthony Knight.

As we step into 2017, we think back to the successful 10-year affiliation we’ve had with StoryCorps.

It began back in 2006 when WABE brought the StoryCorps mobile booth to Atlanta. Then came the StoryCorps Griot initiative in 2007. Today we’re one of three public radio stations in the country with a permanent booth, hosted by our partners over at the Atlanta History Center.

Early in the history of StoryCorps Atlanta, we were warmed by the presence of Lillie Love. She was a StoryCorps facilitator sitting in and helping as needed as participants told their stories.

Love passed away in 2010. Those that knew her would tell you that she was a loving, smiling and welcoming person. Her attitude was positive and forward thinking. So as we start this new year, we thought her words might be a good push of point.

This story was recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, which hosts Atlanta’s StoryCorps Booth.
