‘Stranger Things’ Band Calpurnia Rocked Atlanta Debut
On Sunday night, the “Stranger Things” led band Calpurnia made their debut performance in Atlanta at Terminal West.
During the set, Finn Wolfhard emptied his water bottle over the crowd.
“I’ve been to a lot of concerts and people kind of like it because they’re all so hot in that crowd. I also didn’t want to be the dude who was like, ‘I’m a rockstar but this will actually probably cool them off,’” Wolfhard told “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes. “But also everyone had their phones out. And I was like, ‘Well, both would be a cool story.’ Like, if I didn’t ruin their phones – but if I did they’d have a pretty good story like, ‘I got my phone ruined at a Calpurnia show because Finn threw the water on my phone.”
Drummer Malcolm Craig, who has appeared in shows like A&E’s “Bates Motel,” agreed it was one of their best shows to date.
Canadian-based Calpurnia didn’t officially form until 2017 but its roots start when Craig and Wolfhard met while shooting a PUP video. Not too long after, the pair met Ayla Teslar-Mabe, who is the lead guitarist, at a rock camp. She then introduced them to bassist Jack Anderson.
Calpurnia’s debut LP titled “Scout” will drop June 15. Until then, you can catch their songs ‘City Boy,’ ‘Louie,’ and ‘Greyhound’ online.
