A Talk With Mike Boyce, Incoming Cobb Commission Chairman

Retired Marine Colonel Mike Boyce pulled off a political stunner Tuesday.

In a Republican primary runoff, Boyce ousted incumbent Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee. Because there is no Democrat on the ballot in November, Boyce will become the county’s new commission chairman in January.

Boyce’s campaign was bolstered by voter anger over the process engineered by Lee for the approval of the deal for the new Atlanta Braves stadium in Cobb County. But although there are many remaining questions about the cost of facilities — and who should pay the bill — the stadium deal is done.

And that raises the question of how Boyce will deal with the many other issues facing Cobb County.

On “Morning Edition,” Boyce gave a wide-ranging interview to host Denis O’Hayer.
