Tanzanian Man, Kenyan Woman Win Peachtree Road Race

A Tanzanian man was the top finisher in an annual Fourth of July road race in Atlanta.

Gabriel Geay was the top male finisher in the 10-kilometer AJC Peachtree Road Race Monday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. He finished with an unofficial time of 28 minutes, 47 seconds.

Kenya native Edna Kiplagat was the top female finisher in the race with an unofficial time of 32 minutes, 23 seconds.

Josh George, with a time of 20 minutes and 19 seconds, and Tatyana McFadden, with a time of 24 minutes and 16 seconds, took home the men’s and women’s titles in the race’s wheelchair division.

Tens of thousands of amateur runners also competed in the Independence Day tradition. The course starts at Lenox Square and ends at Piedmont Park.
