The Atlanta Women’s Chorus Takes Us Back To The 1940s With Holiday Concert
In the 1940s, people found comfort and escape from the ravages of World War II at the movies and in the music of the era. Most of the Christmas music that we still cherish was created during that decade. The Atlanta Women’s Chorus is celebrating those classic tunes with a Vintage Holidays Radio Show Saturday.
“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes sat down earlier this week with artistic director Melissa Arasi to discuss the performance.
When asked why the group decided to make this performance a mid-century theme, Arasi said, “Each one of those songs I think was trying to cheer up the world, and Lord knows we need some cheering up now too.”
The performances will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
