The Show ‘Sweet Water Taste’ Blends Comedy With Contemporary Issues

Atlanta’s Horizon Theatre Company has a new production titled, Sweet Water Taste.

The play explores themes such as race and marriage thorough the tales of two interconnected families in North Carolina during the Obama years.

It features some of Atlanta’s best actors, and is onstage now at the Horizon Theatre. The play is inspired by the true events of Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson.

The play is directed by Thomas W. Jones II  of “Blackberry Daze” and “Da’ Kink In My Hair.”

Lois Reitzes sat down with Atlanta veteran actors Chris Kayser and LaParee Young to talk about the play.

Sweet Water Taste runs at the Horizon Theatre through Aug. 25.
