The Black Church

The Black Church Film Screening

Saturday, February 6, 2021
4 p.m.

Join us for a first look at The Black Church, the new documentary from Dr. Henry Louis Gates. Tracing the 400-year-old story of the Black church in America, The Black Church reveals how Black people have worshipped and, through their spiritual journeys, improvised ways to bring their faith traditions from Africa to the New World, while translating them into a form of Christianity that was not only truly their own, but a redemptive force for a nation whose original sin was found in their ancestors’ enslavement across the Middle Passage. After the preview, join the conversation.

THERE IS A 8% CHANCE THAT YOUR RESULT WILL BE NON-AFRICAN. If your maternal result is not African, we will identify whether it is European, Asian, Middle Eastern or Indigenous American but you will not receive a country or a group.
