The nationwide opioid crisis remains in a critical state.

That’s according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which also reports, in 2018 alone, 1,4026 Georgians died from overdosing on opioids.

But there are pockets  in Georgia reporting strides when it comes to recovering addicts. In honor of National Recovery Month, Fulton County held a town hall where they were celebrated.

Afterwards, WABE “Morning Edition” host Lisa Rayam caught up with 31 year-old Ryan Cole.

His journey to sobriety began on a gas station’s bathroom floor.
