Authors often describe the books they write as their “babies.” Decatur novelist Joshilyn Jackson says this is a mistake because “you don’t sell your babies.”

Instead, Jackson encourages writers to think of the process of writing and publishing a book as more like a romantic relationship. As the release of her latest book interferes with progress on the current novel, Jackson shares some of the challenges that come with a book’s release on this edition of “Writer to Reader” on “City Lights.”

She also invites readers to experience a different kind of book club: Lit, held monthly at the Edgewood Speakeasy in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.
