Veterans Volunteer As Poll Workers In Georgia, Other States With Past Election Challenges

Polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday across Georgia and at varying times around the country for the 2020 general election.

Election officials here in Georgia are hoping that things will go a little smoother than they did during the primaries.

One of the challenges polling sites faced over the summer was a shortage of poll workers amid the pandemic.

This is where a nonpartisan organization comes in.

Veterans for American Ideals is a nationwide effort trying to help by recruiting veterans to serve as poll workers.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” host Rose Scott spoke with retired Army Capt. Dan Berschinski and Chris Purdy, project manager of the Veterans for American Ideals program at Human Rights First, about how the initiative started.
