WABE 90.1 Programming Changes – Effective November 8, 2025

ATLANTA, GA – October 27, 2025 – Starting on Saturday, November 8, WABE will introduce two exciting new programs to our Saturday afternoon radio schedule. These two shows will bring engaging, wide-ranging conversations to our listeners, presented by two veteran public radio hosts that will be instantly familiar to our listeners.

On Saturdays at 2 p.m., we will air Sports in America, hosted by award-winning journalist David Greene, a former host of NPR’s Morning Edition. This show dives deep into the personal and transformative moments that shape athletes, coaches, parents, and fans alike. Each week, David brings his passion for storytelling to in-depth conversations with people across the world of sports – from the star who hits the game winner at the buzzer, to the dedicated parent shuttling their kids to practice, to the fans whose lives are touched by the game.

And on Saturdays at 3 p.m., WABE will debut In These Times with Bill Nigut. Listeners will remember Bill Nigut as the long-time host of Political Rewind on GPB and The AJC’s Politically Georgia on WABE. Bill returns to WABE’s airwaves with a new weekly show featuring thoughtful, in-depth conversations about the political, cultural, and social forces shaping Georgia and the wider world. But politics is just part of the story – the show also highlights voices from the arts, music, theater, film, and literature, exploring how creativity and culture help us navigate and reflect on these complex times.

To make room for these new programs, we will drop Radiolab and Freakonomics Radio from our schedule. Listeners can still hear both shows on their respective podcasts.
