She’s been a featured panelist on “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me” for 16 years and often plays the role of confused layperson. In fact, she proudly told “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes that she holds the record for losses on the show.

“I love it that you think I am prepared,” Poundstone said. “I’m the village idiot of the show.”

Along with being a public radio star, Poundstone has performed stand-up comedy for decades, has several comedy specials and is a published author. Her latest book is “The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness.”

Poundstone performs stand-up at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Buckhead Theatre.
