Ways To Celebrate New Years Eve, 2020 Style
This New Year’s Eve, events like Georgia’s beloved Peach Drop where crowds of strangers can come together to celebrate a new year are no longer safe. In a last attempt to say goodbye to 2020 for good, here are some pandemic-friendly ways you can celebrate the dawn of a new year in true 2020 fashion.
VIP Rockin’ New Years Eve Virtual Party:
Looking for a virtual party to celebrate with live music? DJ Mitch Master Mix, radio personality for 102.9, is hosting a “Virtual Grown Folks Party” on Zoom. He will cheers to the future with music from the past–with hits from the 1970’s all the way up to 90’s hip hop and R&B. Tickets must be purchased to join.
Dad’s Garage Virtual Show:
Celebrate the end of 2020 with a laugh and join Dad’s Garage Theatre for their Digital New Year’s Eve Experience. The local theatre will be hosting the event on Zoom with different meeting rooms for different entertainment. You can purchase tickets for this “adults only” event here, and they even have ticket packages for couples.
Atlanta Botanical Garden:
The Atlanta Botanical Gardens canceled their “New Years in the Garden” event, but it will still be open on New Year’s Eve. The garden will be illuminated at night with lights for the Garden Lights, Holiday Nights experience. Tickets must be purchased for entry. Masks are required and tickets are timed to avoid crowds.
YouTube’s “Hello 2021:”
YouTube will be hosting “Hello 20212,” a virtual party with appearances from celebrities, popular YouTubers and musical performances. The event is free to stream and begins at 10:30 p.m.
Times Square Ball Drop:
For many across the country, tuning in to the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Times Square is a yearly tradition and the marker of a new year. It is still happening this year and will feature celebrities and performances as usual, but it won’t be open to the public so viewership is only virtual. The event will be streamed on Twitter, Facebook and their website.
Virtual Family Game Night:
Households around the country can compete in the New Year’s Eve Virtual Family Game Night, hosted by Main Event and Two Bit Circus. The hour-long event begins at 8 p.m. and costs $10 per family. The grand prize is a $500 Main EVent gift card and a $250 virtual birthday party hosted by Two Bit Circus.
