Wyoming Sheriff Longmire Series Continues With ‘Dry Bones’

“Mystery Guest” critic Michele Ross reviews Craig Johnson's “Dry Bones.”

Which came first, the books or the TV series? In the case of Wyoming sheriff  Walt Longmire, it was definitely the books. Author Craig Johnson wrote the first Longmire mystery, “The Cold Dish,” in 2004.

The TV network A&E made a series called “Longmire.” This fall, it will become a Netflix series. In the meantime, Johnson has written another printed book.

The action in “Dry Bones,” the 13th book in the series, begins when a rare, almost complete T-Rex skeleton is found in the Wyoming desert.

“City Lights” mystery critic Michele Ross provides the rest of the storyline and says the tone of Johnson’s tale “veers somewhere between sarcastic and serious.”
