Legal Defense Fund President says the current system of law enforcement is flawed

Janai Nelson, the president and director-counsel of the Legal Defense Fund, says her organization and several other legacy civil rights organization were deeply alarmed and disgusted by the vicious killing of Tyre Nichols.

“We are at the point where we are demanding real and robust action,” said Nelson on Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

Nelson further spoke about over-policing, what needs to be done to make sure communities are safe, and the importance of redirecting police funding.
