Eastman Kodak Co. is eyeing a big expansion in Atlanta driven by a resurgence in the use of celluloid film in projects like Georgia-lensed “The Walking Dead” and “Hidden Figures.”
According to this week’s Atlanta Business Chronicle, the company wants to create a Kodak Photographic Arts Center in Georgia that would offer processing for film projects as well as photography equipment and educational resources for younger generations who want to learn to shoot film.
Steve Bellamy, president of motion picture and entertainment for Kodak, said the company is in talks with numerous studios in metro Atlanta to possibly move its existing lab and offices. He would not identify the studios, but Atlanta now has many sound stage complexes, including Pinewood Atlanta Studios, EUE/Screen Gems Studios, Atlanta Metro Studios and Blackhall Studios.
