Senate Bill 63 is one step closer to becoming law. Some civil and human rights groups call the proposed legislation “regressive” for its expansion of cash bail and extreme limits on bail funds.
The bill now awaits Governor Brian Kemp’s signature.
According to the Southern Center for Human Rights, the proposed legislation only allows organizations, charities, individuals or groups to bail out more than three people per year and requires them to register as bonding agencies.
