Kemp Lauds Georgia Film Industry Success, Despite Calls For Boycott Over Anti-Abortion Law

Gov. Brian Kemp celebrated Georgia being named the top state for business by Area Development magazine at the Capitol Tuesday. He also touted the state’s record year for the film industry.

Georgia just saw a record-breaking year for film and television despite calls for a boycott over a controversial anti-abortion law signed earlier this year.

Just under 400 productions with about a $2.9 billion impact have filmed in the state since last summer, Gov. Brian Kemp said at the state Capitol Tuesday.

“There’s no doubt that Georgia remains the Hollywood of the South,” he said. “We appreciate those who have invested in our state, and respect our values and our way of life.
