Atlanta nonprofits stay determined to combat summer hunger as federal support faces cuts

According to the latest data from Feeding America, nearly 40% of the food-insecure population in the United States is white. Yet, in most counties, Black, Hispanic, and Latino households experience higher rates of food insecurity than their white counterparts.

This national picture resonates deeply in Georgia, where the latest data reveals that one in seven people are facing hunger.

On Tuesday’s special edition of “Closer Look,” show host Rose Scott talked with local leaders about their efforts to address food insecurity this summer as assistance programs face federal funding cuts and inflation impacts food prices.
