Gov. Kemp Says Georgia Doesn’t Need A Mask Mandate

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp says the state does not need a statewide mask order.

In a press conference Friday, he added, there will not be one anytime soon.

Kemp also is standing behind his decision this week to sue Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms over her decision to issue a mask mandate for the city of Atlanta.

The lawsuit argues Bottoms’ measure violates state-level rules that bar localities from setting their own public health rules.

WABE political reporter Emma Hurt has been watching the legal discussion closely.

She joined Sam Whitehead on “All Things Considered” to discuss the latest.
