Fasten your seatbelts! Lyft is speeding into the world of autonomous vehicles.
The rideshare company announced in a press release on Wednesday that its first line of autonomous vehicles is hitting the streets of Atlanta. Riders will be matched with one of May Mobility’s hybrid-electric Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS vehicles for ridesharing.
In regard to safety, Lyft cited May Mobility’s Multi-Policy Decision Making platform, which provides “active monitoring, vehicle guidance, and predictive capabilities.” The patented platform operates by examining thousands of potential scenarios and outcomes, then subsequently uses human-like reasoning to choose the option that best protects the passengers from harm.
