Atlanta City Council President Doug Shipman says Atlanta is better now than it was four years ago. Elected in November 2021, Shipman campaigned on building a better Atlanta.

In February, Shipman announced he would not run for reelection, choosing instead to focus on family responsibilities. The longtime nonprofit leader turned politician joined “Closer Look” on Tuesday to reflect on his tenure as the leader of Atlanta’s chief policy-making body.

From navigating the pandemic to the current political climate, Shipman talked candidly with program host Rose Scott about some of the challenges and successes he faced head-on as he worked towards building a better Atlanta.
