Food Well Alliance is an Atlanta-based nonprofit with a straightforward mission: to provide resources and support to local growers while helping build healthier, more connected communities.

The organization is a leading advocate for local food system plans — formerly known as City Agriculture Plans. The plans outline policy and program recommendations designed to strengthen a city’s local food system over a three- to five-year period. When implemented thoughtfully, supporters say these plans can deliver social, economic and environmental benefits. Success, however, depends on collaboration among a wide range of stakeholders, including local governments and growers.

Each year, the Food Well Alliance, in partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission, awards funding and technical resources to cities that are developing inclusive and equitable local food system plans. Eligible communities are located in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, with applications submitted jointly by city officials and community representatives.
